Rebecca Frances Lankford Lampley
1868-1949

Affectionately nicknamed Aunt Sack,. Rebecca Lampley served as a midwife in this area nearly six decades, delivering numerous babies in Williamson, Dickson, and Hickman Counties. She grew up at 1/2 mile east of here and resided as an adult about 1 1/2 miles west of here on the road that now bears her name. She likely learned her midwife skills from her grandmother Indiana Territory Parker Spencer, a Cherokee who was a pioneer midwife in the area. On August 23, 1688 she married Joseph E. Lampley (1858-1930), the had no children. She wa the daughter of Confederate Veteran Sgt. Arter R. Lankford, who served in Baxter's Company Tennessee Light Artillery, and Mary Spencer.
