1860'S DIXIE DANCERS
ADVANCED DIXIE DANCERS

To promote a further understanding and mastering of the dances of the 1860's, the organization formed an additional group of dancing aficionados, dubbed the Advanced Dixie Dancers. This group learns and practices the more intricate dances of the period and gives public demonstrations of our dances at community events.

ADD membership

The Advanced Dancers wish to not only promote 1860's dancing but to also promote the preservation of the heritage of this period. Thus, two requirements must be met to qualify to become a member of the Advanced Dixie Dancer group:     (1) The person has to be a member of Dixie Dancers organization;
    (2) The person has to be, or become, a member one of the established "Confederate" community organizations. These     groups are: the SCV, UDC, Auxiliaries, and established reenacting groups.

The only exception to this is if a member, who is single (or does not have a participating spouse), wishes to bring a dancing partner who is a non-member. This would apply to any member of one of the groups who does not have a dancing partner. The partner or 'guest', of course, must be of the opposite sex.

Participants

This is for serious dancers only! We are here to learn and to practice. Adults only, no kids! Participants must be at least 12 years old.

Casual or infrequent dancers are always welcome to the regular Dixie Dancers classes. The Regular classes will remain open to anyone who wishes to dance, i.e. kids, non-members, female-female partners, etc.
